Eggenhofer Exhibit

The Hot Springs County Museum & Cultural Center is proud to exhibit the Nick Eggenhofer gallery dedicated to his artwork including many original pieces, such as a scale model of a stagecoach, several original illustrations as well as two prints from his paintings. Circa 1913, at the age of 16, German-born Nick Eggenhofer emigrated to New Jersey and later New York before he and his wife Louise moved to Cody, Wyoming in 1961.

While still young, Nick was inspired by the American West lifestyle after attending a Wild West show and reading about the American West. He became an amazing Western artist and was noted for many years for his illustrations in books and magazines, notably “Western Story” and “Ace High” pulp magazines. Visit the Hot Springs County Museum in Thermopolis, Wyoming to admire some of his original pieces that are on display in the Nick Eggenhofer gallery. Our gift shop has Nick Eggenhofer’s autobiography “Horses, Horses, Always Horses” which contains many samples of his art.
