Belly up to the original bar where outlaws from the Hole-in-the-Wall gang once used to visit, including the infamous Butch Cassidy! Though spirits are no longer served to patrons, it is a great place to sit and imagine the sights, sounds and smells that once surrounded this icon from the past.
The cherry wood, the bar was made from, was cut in New York and sent to Ireland where four bars of this style were crafted and sent back to America where Tom Skinner bought the bar at the Chicago World’s Fair. The bar once stood on the southeast corner of 5th and Arapahoe Streets in Thermopolis. The original proprietor was Tom Skinner. The saloon’s name was named after the outlaw gang’s hide-out, Hole-in-the-Wall, located approximately 75 – 80 miles to the east.
In this exhibit you will also find several items from the Tom Skinner Saloon, including a safe.
